Hollywood is best known for its Broadwalk — a broad oceanfront promenade lined with hotels, restaurants, and shops that runs for miles along Hollywood Beach and draws a steady stream of visitors year-round. It has a distinct, walkable character that sets it apart from more car-dependent beach towns nearby, and a lot of local transportation demand is built around getting to and from that corridor: a beachfront hotel to a dinner a few blocks inland, a condo just off the Broadwalk to a night out, or a group heading to one of the restaurants and bars clustered near the water without wanting to deal with the corridor’s limited parking.

Downtown Hollywood, centered on Hollywood Boulevard and Young Circle, adds its own layer of local demand — restaurants and a small but active arts and entertainment scene that draws a different crowd than the beach a couple of miles east. Between the two areas, Hollywood generates a fair amount of point-to-point traffic that has nothing to do with a flight or a cruise: home to dinner, hotel to an evening event, or one part of the city to another for residents who’d rather not drive and park twice in one night.

What makes Hollywood genuinely useful from a transportation standpoint is its proximity to both Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades, one of the busiest cruise ports in the world — both are within a short drive of nearly anywhere in the city, and in FLL’s case, within Hollywood’s own city limits. That combination makes Hollywood a practical base for travelers combining a flight with a cruise, or simply looking for a beach stay that doesn’t add much travel time on either end of the trip.

Local trips run along A1A and the connecting roads into the Broadwalk and downtown areas, with I-95 providing the main route out to the airport, the port, or destinations further north and south in Broward County. Given how often Hollywood trips involve airport or cruise timing, UNO builds in the kind of buffer that accounts for terminal and port congestion rather than treating either as a simple curbside stop — while still treating the short hop from a hotel to dinner as just as normal a booking.
